Staff Spotlight With Catalina
My name is Catalina. I’m originally from Romania, I came here when I was six and I’ve been living in Lucan for four years now.
What motivated me to get in to childcare? Well, I always had a part of me wanting to work with children but then I sorta put it a side. I wanted to do my own thing and I don’t know, there was something telling me “You have to be there”. I was actually doing business and IT, I’ve done that for two years, and then I just couldn’t imagine myself working in front of a computer forever. So, then I just decided to just leave everything and go in this direction because I always felt that I wanted to encourage children and help them develop their interests and just be there for them.
It’s never the same, a day in Little Harvard can never be the same, for example today they’re interested in animals, tomorrow they could be interested in astronauts, you know, it can never be the same. That’s the great thing about it. There’s always the variety so you never get bored.
What I enjoy is that everyone is open, they’re very easy; you can approach them very easily. I’ve worked in other places and I would have been afraid to approach people and staff, but I find it very ok here, they’re outgoing
I love their curriculum actually, the way its play-based and the children don’t stick to a strict routine, that’s what I like about Little Harvard in general.
