Staff Spotlight With Julio Belda Abreu
My name is Julio, I’m from Seville in the south of Spain, and I’ve been here for almost two months now.
What first motivated me to get into childcare was when I was doing my final years of high school, I was doing some private lessons to teach English, and I realised that I really, really liked teaching kids and seeing how they developed. I thought “well I want to study this, the education degree,” and I did it and I ended up being a teacher.
It is a very long working day, depending on the shift, we usually start with a few kids and then they start to come in, we usually start playing and see what the kids are interested in, and from that point we try and make some activities related to a theme, for example, we did Halloween recently and if they are interested in different things that are not related to what we are doing we try and take notice for next time. We have a very strict routine with lunches, we go to the garden and at the end of the day the kids are very much like, they know what they are doing, they know what they have to do and it is kind of exhausting sometimes but at the same time its really fun and very dynamic, the good thing is some days out of nowhere what to expect, so we just go with the flow - it’s good.
What I really enjoy is actually the relationship we have with the staff, with the girls in the classrooms, they are very supportive especially as I’m new here, so they’ve been really helpful and they are really fun, that’s one of the good things about this.
I’ve been here for only about a month, I am still getting to know the company, but they take care of you so when you have a problem you can talk to them… if you need something not only for the job but also for your personal life, they are there for you to help and I think that’s a really good aspect and a very important dynamic that we have for the company… I feel safe talking to them.
